Are you in need of a change in scenery? We have many students that tend to hear about our program for that very reason. Kenneth Pingel wanted to move from Metro Detroit to Grand Rapids, it was then that he came across FIMBA. Kenneth is a graduate of the 2013 FIMBA cohort. He graduated from Albion College with a major in Economics and Management and a minor in History. Kenneth completed his paid fellowship with Consumers Energy. "The experience was great! I learned a lot, was able to contribute to meaningful projects, and received great exposure to other areas throughout the company," said Kenneth. Kenneth participated in the International trip to Beijing and Chengdu, China and Ho Chi Minh Vietnam. One of the best moments for him through the program was getting to taste the exotic international foods. The meal that stuck out to him the most was the Peking Duck in Beijing. |
"We had dessert items such as a chocolate "bomb" that cracked open as the fuse burned down to reveal pop-rocks wrapped in rice paper. Many of the dishes were inventive and completely new to me," said Kenneth.
Kenneth would recommend this program for future students. He said although it is not for everyone, he believes there are many who could benefit from what the program has to offer. Kenneth is currently in his first year as a Financial Analyst for MarshBerry. FIMBA helped him by providing networking connections through professors, a wide breath of subject area familiarity, and confidence in his own abilities.
"FIMBA helped me find exactly the kind of position I was seeking when I came to GVSU," said Kenneth.
Kenneth wanted to remind future students that although grades are important; students need to take the time to build relationships and memories.
"Don't forget to have fun," said Kenneth.
